Our theme this Program Year is “The Next Chapter of Your Career.” Part of NCMA’s mission is to demonstrate our profession is an essential business management function that directly contributes to organizational success. We are contract professionals and not just “paper pushers.” We add value at work when we, among other things, identify and suggest ways to mitigate risk; recognize and avoid areas of non-compliance; and inform our co-workers on ever-changing regulations that affect contracts.
With that in mind, the chapter will focus on four core areas that will help you add value for your employer and grow professionally:
- Education: This year we are offering nine monthly 2-hour seminars, a National Education Seminar, plus other educational opportunities to keep you on top of your professional game. We are also looking to collaborate with other professional associations to provide a well-rounded educational program for you.
- Certification: An NCMA certification is an excellent way to show your employer and your peers that you are serious about your career. It is also a way to distinguish yourself from others in a competitive job market. This year your chapter is offering both CFCM and CPCM study groups to help you obtain a certification. Stay tuned for more details.
- Networking: A great way to learn more about your profession and grow your professional circle is to meet other contract professionals and share experiences. Look for the chapter to host informal get-togethers this year so you can network with other contract professionals in a relaxed setting.
- Advancement: Combining the three areas above puts you well on your way to advancing your career and reaching your personal career goals!
