Looking to Volunteer?

volunteers290x248Volunteers are the engine of all NCMA chapters. Without them, the membership is deprived of opportunities to learn, network, and develop professionally.

The NCMA Dulles Corridor Chapter’s membership has grown tremendously in the past few years and we now have over 500 members! As the membership grows, the chapter’s offerings should grow as well to maximize participation by the members. In order to do that, the chapter needs more members to volunteer and to make every event a success!

Won’t you consider volunteering and offering your time to the chapter? Volunteering can mean serving as an officer, chairing a committee, or just helping out. There are so many ways (some you may not realize) to help so please take a moment to review all the possible areas and if you’re interested sign up using the volunteer form below.

Professional Development

This includes professional development programs such as webinars, certification study groups, and the NES. Organizing and/or executing these types of events are areas where you can help. Professional Development also includes mentoring programs and identifying chapter members for the Contract Management Leadership Development Program (CMLDP).

The following Executive Council positions are part of Professional Development:

  • Vice President of Professional Development
  • Certifications Director
  • NES Director

Programs

This includes events not covered by Professional Development and includes the monthly seminars, social events, and joint events with other organizations. Finding and booking speakers for the nine monthly seminars every Program Year is the highest priority for Programs. Social/networking events are important to develop work relationships within the profession and organizing these types of events is an area the chapter wants to improve.

The following Executive Council positions are part of Programs:

  • Vice President of Programs
  • Seminar Director

Operations

This is the “logistics” piece of executing the chapter’s events as well as the chapter’s communications. Securing facilities, handling catering, manning the registration desk, and managing the chapter’s website and social media properties are all areas in Operations where help is needed.

The following Executive Council positions are part of Operations:

  • Vice President of Operations
  • Registrations Director
  • Social Media Director
  • Marketing Director

Membership

An important area that “connects” members to their organization and their chapter as well as promotes recognition of chapter members’ accomplishments. Sending out welcoming messages, producing anniversary certificates, identifying chapter members for nomination for the various NCMA individual awards are some of the ways you can help.

The following Executive Council position is part of Membership:

  • Vice President of Membership

Administration

The chapter must keep financial records, prepare an annual budget, keep minutes of all meetings, submit an annual end-of-year report to NCMA, and coordinate the submission of various documents. These duties are handled by the Chapter Treasurer and Chapter Secretary and are critical roles. The chapter must ensure future candidates are identified to allow for smooth and orderly transitions at the end of each Program Year.

The following Executive Council positions are part of Administration:

  • Chapter President
  • President-Elect
  • Secretary
  • Treasurer
  • Controller

Feel free to contact any Executive Council member for more information on any position.
