Program Description

The Federal Information Technology Acquisition Reform Act (FITARA) has been hailed as the single most impactful piece of legislation for information technology acquisition and management.  This course will describe the historical context of information technology acquisitions that prompted the Congress to enact legislation. We will then review the FITARA legislation and implementation guidance so that attendees can understand how IT organizations, and in particular Chief Information Officers, are impacted by this new way of doing business.  Further, these changes have drastic impact to the contractors providing IT products and services.  We will end the session with other initiatives that the government is undertaking to more effectively and efficiently manage their IT resources and portfolios.

In this seminar, attendees will learn about:

  • Government IT evolution
  • IT legislative history
  • FITARA overview
  • FITARA implementation guidance
  • Other government IT management initiatives
