Help Support The Backpack Coalition: Bring Food!
The Backpack Coalition helps to provide food for the weekend to school children who are in need. Each week we provide a bag filled with 6 meals and 2 snacks plus juice and shelf milk for a child to take home for the weekend.
This year the Dulles Corridor Chapter is participating in the Backpack Coalition (Backpack Buddies) program, contributing pantry items to families at Frederick Douglass Elementary School in Leesburg, VA. Last year, Frederick Douglass distributed roughly 60 bags a week…that’s 360 meals a week! How can you help? Bring a few of the preferred items listed below to the upcoming Chapter seminar on September 20th.
Backpack Coalition Preferred Items (Our only request is that the items are nut-free.)
- Cups of ravioli, beefaroni or spaghetti
- Canned tuna or chicken
- Cheese crackers
- Easy macaroni and cheese
- Cereal (individual sized boxes)
- Instant oatmeal
- Granola or cereal bars
