Program Description
The AbilityOne® Program is among the largest sources of employment, on Federal contracts, for individuals who are blind or have significant disabilities in the United States. Established in 1938, the program is administered by the U.S. AbilityOne Commission®, an independent Federal agency, with assistance from National Industries for the Blind (NIB) and SourceAmerica®. National Industries for the Blind (NIB) is the largest employer of people who are blind.
In this seminar, attendees will learn about:
Application of FAR Part 8 – Order of Priority, Federal Acquisition Regulation 8.002/8.005 and the responsibility of use of FAR Subpart 8.7, which prescribes policies and procedures with respect to the Governments purchase of supplies or services on the Procurement List.
About The Speaker
Dean Simmonds is a Business Development Sales Manager with National Industries for the Blind (NIB). He is responsible for identifying, managing and pursuing new business opportunities in designated DoD/Federal agency(s) and Commercial markets to meet the goals and objectives of NIB.
Prior to NIB, Mr. Simmonds has held positions in commercial companies large and small focused on providing information technology, professional services and IT education and training to state, local and federal government.
Mr. Simmonds is a graduate of Howard University in Washington, DC with a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering.
